We’ll capitalize on Green Ghana to plant more trees – MCE

Date:

The Kwahu South Municipal Assembly has said more than 10,000 different tree species would be planted across various towns and communities under the Green Ghana Project in the municipal area.

Mr Emmanuel Atta Ofori, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who said this during a ceremony to raise public awareness about the Green Ghana Project in the municipality also said the assembly was committed to replenishing Ghana’s vegetative cover.

He stated that the assembly would take advantage of the greening project to ensure more tree plants were planted to beautify tourist sites in the geographical area to attract more tourists.

He, therefore, called on the chiefs and people to support the project aiming to plant about five million trees countrywide, and avoid “reading political meanings into it,” adding, “Everyone would benefit from the success of the project and so all must get involved.

”About 1,500 students and staff of St Paul’s Senior High School were mobilised to begin the tree planting exercise along roadsides and vantage locations to mark the launching of the Green Ghana Project in the municipality.

The MCE and Nana Somuah Nyampong, Chief of Kwahu Asakraka, jointly planted the symbolic tree at the St Paul’s School compound to jumpstart the national exercise.
