Weija-Gbawe Assembly launches ‘Operation Wear Your Nose Mask Campaign’

Date:

Mrs Tina Naa Ayele Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly, has launched a campaign to create a nose mask wearing awareness.

The ‘Operation Wear Your Nose Mask Campaign’ is to encourage the wearing of nose masks by the residents to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Mrs Mensah, also a Deputy Minister of Health, demonstrated the making of an improvised nose mask at the launch, using a handkerchief.

In support of the campaign, she donated 3,000 hand sanitizers and 2,000 nose masks to the Municipal Assembly, the 14 electoral areas there, and the Municipal Hospital.

“I am at the forefront of the fight against the deadly virus and, therefore, has to sensitise my constituents and assist them to stop the spread,” she said.

Mr Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the wearing of face or nose masks was now mandatory, considering the fact that the Weija-Gbawe Municipality was a hotspot of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the Municipality had drawn an education and sensitisation programme to educate the residents on how to protect themselves from contracting the virus.

Mr Kumor said the Assembly would ensure the wearing of nose masks in commercial vehicles by both drivers and passengers and that notices of; “No Nose Mask, No Entry,” would be pasted at the entrances of all public buildings with immediate effect.
