We will miss Tariq Lamptey very much. – Chris Hughton, Ghana’s coach

Date:

Tariq Lamptey’s absence, according to Ghana coach Chris Hughton, will be a major setback for the team.

The right-back for Brighton will not feature in the two games because of a knee injury he acquired while representing his team.

The former Chelsea academy trainee has been out of the last two games for The Seagulls.

Kingsley Schindler has taken his position in the team.

Before to the Angola game, Hughton said in a media interview:

We will miss Tariq Lamptey a lot, but we have a squad because we anticipated this two weeks in advance and were prepared for it.

Tariq Lamptey earned four Ghanaian caps after playing in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Lamptey has made 20 appearances for English club, Brighton this season under Roberto De Zerbi.

Ghana will travel to Luanda for the return game on March 27.

The Black Stars are joint-top of Group E with Angola in the qualifiers.
