Wassa-East farmers happy with the supply of massive farm inputs

Date:

Farmers in the Wassa-East District have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr.Wilson Arthur for being instrumental in the massive supply of basic farm inputs to boost Agriculture in the area.

According to them, the supply of Fertilizers and nursing seedlings from the government have become a major boost to the planting for food and jobs programme.

In a random sampling exercise, a cross section of the predominantly Cocoa and rubber farmers, told the Ghana News Agency(GNA) in the District that the quantum of planting seedlings and Fertilizers made available to farmers from 2019 were unprecedented.

The DCE, Mr. Arthur who confirmed the story to the GNA, said the Daboase Cooperative Farmers Union (DCFU) received a total of 46,750 Cocoa Aduane Fertilizers within the last two weeks.

The Ateiku Cocoa Farmers Cooperative Union 1&2 also received 24,000 bags of fertizers with the CocoLife Cooperative Union receiving 20,000 bags of Fertilizers.

Mr.Arthur hinted that the Senchem Cooperative Cocoa Farmers Union would be the next to receive their consignment of Fertilizers.

The DCE also disclosed that under the planting for Food and Jobs module, the number of nursing seedlings supplied to farmers soared from 650,000 last year to 1.5 million this year.

Mr Arthur said as a model District, Cocobod chose Wassa-East as the first Cocoa District in the country to receive Fertilizers.

The DCE was hopeful that in the next two years, the impact of these farming inputs would be massive in terms of productivity and farmers income.

Mr Arthur announced that the Dompim No .1 processing factory would start operation in July this year.
