The Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council (GARCC) has banned tricycle operators’ activities within the Central Business District (CBD) in a bid to reduce traffic congestion and restore order to Accra’s streets.
The Council has also prohibited the use of party paraphernalia during regional festivities. The conclusion was reached during a meeting on Monday, August 14.
The decision to restrict the operations of tricycle operators known colloquially as ‘Pragya’ stems from growing concerns about persistent traffic congestion and disorderly scenes, which have been exacerbated by the indiscriminate parking and disregard for traffic regulations frequently displayed by these operators.
