TGL to train new b’ball stars

Date:

A basketball training group known as Train Grow Lead (TGL) is putting in frantic effort to heighten the awareness of basketball in Ghana.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Times Sports on Monday in Accra, Mr Dollar Agbemadon, the Executive Director and Global Representative of the organisation said the group would train young basketball players to represent Ghana globally.

He said the goal for Train Grow Lead as a non-profit organisation was to use the collective passion of basketball in Ghana to unite individuals and provide a platform for them to train in their respective fields.

This, he said, would enable individuals grow by learning how to work hard, be smart, make efficient decisions and most importantly be empowered to lead by giving back to the community.

Eligible players between the ages of 12 and 18 would be offered free basketball training three times a week and equip them with values and transferable skills that prepare them for life beyond the basketball court, he explained.

He said non players in middle or high school would be given various internship opportunities to prepare them for university and career ahead.

To meet the need for career enhancement in the field of event planning, human resources and finance among others, the Executive Director said training would be given to students offering such programmes.

He also said that, there is a free TGL App available on the internet to educate basketball enthusiast more on their training sessions.

“We have seen too much talent go waste and there’s limited opportunity and guidance to help children evolve in basketball, so training would be made three times in a week, however we offer one on one training by the aid of our professional skills trainer” he stressed.
