Many shop owners are concerned after a fire broke out at the Tema timber market.
The Ghana National Fire Service deployed about four fire tenders to douse the fire, which started around 11:00 am on Wednesday.
According to an affected shop owner, Godfred Kpemetey, the fire began at the home of some squatters who live behind the market.
“The fire started about 45 minutes to an hour ago, but the fire service wasn’t here on time,” an eyewitness said.
He said the fire was spreading to the area where wood is stored.
