Mr Edmund Nellic Nyanwura, the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Director, has urged People in the Municipality to take keen interest in the ongoing COVID- 19 vaccination exercise and avail themselves to be vaccinated.
Mr Nellic Nyanwura, speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, said vaccination was the most important measure to curb the pandemic.
He said 19,115 people out of a target of 88,114, in the Municipality had taken the first dose of the vaccine by the close of Monday, November 22 while 3,613 were fully vaccinated.
“We have a long way to go and we need to be more serious because that is the only way through, which we can get rid of COVID-19 and gain our freedom, he said.

“If more than 88,000 people go out to vaccinate, then, we are on the way to immunity”, he added.
He advised all eligible people to get vaccinated and indicated that it was important for all to also observe all the protocols including maintaining social distances.
He said though there were no new reported cases of COVID-19, the few reported cases of Yellow fever was a worry and urged anyone suspected to be sick with jaundice to report immediately to the nearest Health facility to be checked.
For the Vaccination Centres, he mentioned the Municipal Health Directorate, all health centers, and market places and advised organized groups to make arrangements to receive their vaccination.
He said all who vaccinated with Astra Zeneca in the first round were expected to go for their second vaccination and added that the Municipal Directorate had so far not received any other vaccines other than Astra Zeneca.
