Neymar believes Carlo Ancelotti will “teach” them a lot if he is appointed as Brazil’s next manager.

The Italian manager has been linked with a transfer to Brazil, but he insists he wants to “respect” his Real Madrid contract, which expires in 2024. But, he is anticipated to go to South America after that, with CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues sure that a deal has been reached. Neymar has already voiced his opinion on the matter and believes Ancelotti will be the next Brazil manager.

WHAT DID NEYMAR SAY?: “We will have the opportunity to have a foreign coach. Ancelotti has won everything and I am sure he will teach us a lot,” the Brazilian forward told TV Band.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Real Madrid are already making preparations for Ancelotti’s departure next season as they have reportedly lined up a replacement in Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, who has been impressive in his first season in the Bundesliga. The Spaniard’s contract with the Bundesliga outfit ends in 2024 and it is likely that he would sign for the reigning Copa del Rey champions where he flourished as a player from 2009 to 2014.

WHAT HAPPENED? Disgruntled supporters made their feelings known in the immediate aftermath of the decision to suspend seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi following his unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia. Messi will not be signing a new contract at Parc des Princes, having seen his commitment to the cause called into question throughout a two-year stint in France, while Brazilian forward Neymar has also attracted unwelcome attention from fans during another injury-hit campaign.

WHAT THEY SAID: The Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) have had enough, saying in a statement released on their social media platforms: “At the end of the meeting between the club’s management and the leaders of the Collectif Ultras Paris, the CUP office decided to completely cease our activities. We will therefore no longer be present at the Parc des Princes or on the move. The latest events at the state of our common relations with management lead us to believe that this is the best and only solution likely to preserve a common future. We are waiting for clear answers from the club on several points in order to possibly review our positions.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: The ultras group will not be attending men’s or women’s matches after forming part of the protests against chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi and prominent members of the club’s playing staff outside their Boulogne-Billancourt headquarters last week.

WHAT NEXT? PSG supporters have taken issue with the performances of certain players – especially those that they feel are not giving their all to the club – while opposition has been expressed towards supposed plans on behalf of the board to acquire Stade de France, rather than fund upgrades to Parc des Princes.

Christophe Galtier has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain are more balanced without Neymar, albeit while insisting that his absence will still be felt.

Galtier makes surprise Neymar admission

Claims PSG more balanced without him

Brazilian’s season over due to injury

WHAT HAPPENED? With Neymar being ruled out for likely what remains of the 2022-23 season, PSG manager Galtier has lifted the lid on how it will impact his side as they look to clinch Ligue 1 and the Champions League. It has been suggested that the French giants can set up using a formation that will optimise their performance in the absence of Neymar, which Galtier has surprisingly agreed with. He did, however, also admit that PSG cannot replace his effect in the final third of the pitch.

WHAT THEY SAID: Speaking ahead of a huge Champions League last 16 second leg tie against Bayern Munich, Galtier explained: “I see there has been a debate around this. It’s a loss, clearly. Is the team more balanced? Yes.

“Is it better like this? I will say that having him is better to score goals.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Heading into the tie 1-0 down after losing at the Parc Des Princes in February, Galtier expressed confidence over his side’s chances despite Neymar’s absence, claiming that they played the first leg with a “very diminished squad”.

He placed particular focus on Kylian Mbappe, praising his ability in big games and insisting his side were confident for the huge occasion that could make or break their season. The Frenchman was only fit enough to appear off the bench in the first leg, but has bagged five goals in the three games since.

Called Neymar one of the best

Appreciated his dribbling & passing skills

Thinks Brazil are among favourites in Qatar

WHAT HAPPENED? The former Spain international played with Neymar at Camp Nou for four seasons from 2013 to 2017 and they won several accolades together, including a Champions League title in 2015. Iniesta now plies his trade in Japan with Vissel Kobe but still keeps a close eye on his old colleague, who is now part of an all-star squad at Paris Saint-Germain and is set to lead Brazil to the 2022 World Cup.

WHAT THEY SAID: “For me, he’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen and with whom I’ve played. He is a machine for playing football, dribbling, and passing. I believe that when we talk about football, we are talking about spectacle, enjoying what the players present. And I think that seeing Ney playing is synonymous with that,” Iniesta said to One Football.

The Barca legend added on Neymar and Brazil’s chances of success in Qatar: “I think no one would not put Brazil as a candidate to win the World Cup. I believe they have a very strong team and I am sure Brazil will be fighting for the title.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Neymar has been in superb form for PSG and his national team in the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign. In just 11 matches for PSG across all competitions, the 30-year-old forward has managed to rack up 19 goal contributions. Neymar continued in the same vein during the international break, conjuring up two assists in a 3-0 win against Ghana and a goal from the penalty spot in a 5-1 thrashing of Tunisia.

A fellow countryman from Brazil has made predictions about the Brazilian’s potential destinations after worries about his future at Paris Saint-Germain were raised.

The rumor of Neymar moving to the Premier League has returned, and fellow Brazilian Joelinton has told the PSG superstar that the “No. 10 shirt is there waiting for him” at Newcastle.

Five years after completing a record-breaking €222 million (£200m/$262m) transfer from Barcelona to Parc des Princes, the most expensive footballer in the world is having significant questions about his future raised.

GOAL has discovered that PSG would examine bids for the mysterious 30-year-old this summer. Joelinton has recommended that a renowned compatriot think about joining him and Bruno Guimaraes at St. James’ Park, with the likes of Chelsea being connected with an interest.

Neymar’s invitation from Newcastle

Brazilian forward Joelinton, who has spent the last three seasons on Tyneside, has told the Cast FC podcast of the exit talk Neymar is generating in France: “We can get him a spot, sure! In any team in the world. If he comes it will be…

“I can’t explain it, the man is an idol, is huge in world soccer. So, the invitation is done. Ney, if you are listening to this, you can come. I’ll run for you all the time.

“If we have the chance I hope the coach will call him. The number 10 shirt is there waiting for him. I’ll send a message to Bruno. Bruno has his contact, he can send a message inviting Ney to play there.”

While Joelinton is eager to offer up Newcastle’s No.10 jersey, that spot is currently filled by mercurial French winger Allan Saint-Maximin and he would not want to give up that shirt without a fight.

Neymar in the Premier League would be all types of entertaining pic.twitter.com/5AC7Pr9Rwx

Could Newcastle afford Neymar?

There are few clubs in world football that could afford to finance a move for Neymar.

Newcastle are now one of those sides, with a £300m ($364m) takeover of the club having been completed in October 2021.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) now own an 80 per cent stake in the Magpies, meaning that the North East outfit have become one of the richest teams on the planet.

Finding the funds to sign Neymar would not be an issue, even when taking a lucrative contract into account, but convincing him to head for Tyneside could prove tricky.

Ambitious plans are being drawn up at Newcastle, with manager Eddie Howe having money to spend, but they are not yet contenders for Champions League qualification and have some way to go before they can compete with continental rivals for the very best players on the market.

Although there is a lot of talk surrounding the Brazilian international in the summer of 2022, he is being encouraged to remain put.

According to Wagner Ribeiro, Neymar’s former agent, the Brazilian star is still focused on winning the Champions League at Paris Saint-Germain and won’t consider leaving the Ligue 1 team until that goal has been accomplished.

According to information obtained by GOAL, big-spending French heavyweights who made a South American forward the most expensive player on the planet by purchasing him from Barcelona for €222 million (£200 million/$262 million) back in 2017 are open to hearing offers this summer for a world-renowned athlete.

They do, however, have a contract with Neymar that lasts until 2025, and the mysterious 30-year-old is expected to remain there until he has assisted in bringing a historic continental crown to Parc des Princes.

Will Neymar leave PSG?

When that question was put to Wagner Ribeiro by GOAL, a man that is more involved in marketing nowadays than player representation said: “Neymar has a dream: to be champion of the Champions League with PSG.

“Despite all the rumours regarding a possible exit, he is very motivated and will not stop until he achieves it.”

Quizzed on whether he likes the project at PSG, Ribeiro added: “Of course. Every year that passes Nasser Al-Khelaifi (club president) improves the team in every way.

“They just finished the training centre, which will be one of the best. And now he wants to have the best French players at PSG.”

Which other Brazilian players have caught the eye?

17 goals and 13 assists.

The season Vinicius Junior transformed into a Galactico pic.twitter.com/7t6K6vpPjr

While remaining close with Neymar, Ribeiro continues to keep an eye across all of the Brazilian players that are performing on an elite stage in Europe.

Vinicius Jr is among those to have enjoyed a standout 2021-22 campaign, as he helped Real Madrid to the Liga title before netting a match-winning goal in the Champions League final, and the 21-year-old’s development comes as no surprise to Ribeiro.

He added: “Vinicius did not surprise me. Simply, he has matured.

“He is happy at Real Madrid and plays without pressure, showing all the quality he has and making a lot of fantasies happen with the ball.”

Pressed on whether one of the hottest prospects in world football is making the right decision in signing a new contract at Santiago Bernabeu, Ribeiro added: “Of course. Renewing with Real Madrid is good for him because it is a club that has always trusted his football.

“Florentino Perez deserves a lot of credit because he trusted him from the first moment.”

Neymar will travel on an upcoming tour of China with Paris-Saint Germain, the club said Tuesday, as the troubled Brazilian superstar’s future remains up in the air amid mounting signs he is unhappy at the French champions.

The 27-year-old, who has been repeatedly linked to a move to Barcelona, failed to show up to PSG’s pre-season training on July 8, with his camp maintaining he had a prior agreement to stay away.

The club threatened to take “appropriate action” against the world’s most expensive player, who said he had stayed in Brazil to attend a charity five-a-side football tournament run by his foundation.

Neymar, who joined PSG in 2017 for 222 million euros ($264 million at the time), rejoined the team a week later on July 15.

He also didn’t help the strained relationship by controversially saying that his best football memory was beating PSG when he played for Barcelona.

Just days before rejoining PSG, he cited as his favourite football memory his role in the 2017 Barcelona team that overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit by winning 6-1 in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.

He also recently posted a 10-second video of himself in a Barcelona shirt and a quote from the Bible: “No weapon turned against you will prosper.”

It has been a troubled summer for Neymar.

He missed Brazil’s triumphant Copa America campaign on home soil due to an ankle injury and was also questioned by Brazilian police over allegations he raped a woman — accusations he denies.

PSG referenced the ankle injury in its statement naming the squad on Tuesday, saying that “daily physical work will continue and complete recovery and integration with the group is scheduled for training in China”.

It added that x-rays of the fracture showed “completely normal progress and a very good improvement”.

PSG land in Shenzhen, China on Wednesday, and will play friendlies against Inter Milan in Macau on Saturday and Sydney FC in Suzhou on July 30.

Their first competitive match of the season will be against Rennes in Shenzhen on August 3 in the Champions Trophy, the traditional curtain-raiser to the French campaign.

PSG also announced on Tuesday that 16-year-old Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons would join the club from Barcelona. – AFP
