Olam adjudged Best Agribusiness Company

Date:

Olam Ghana, a supply chain manager of agri-products and one of Ghana’s biggest cocoa buying agencies, has been adjudged the best company in the Agriculture and Agribusiness sector for 2017 at the 17th Ghana Club 100 Awards.

Organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ghana Club 100 (GC100) is an annual official list of the top 100 companies in Ghana as compiled by the Centre since 1998.

The rankings are done with the aim of recognising the top 100 best performing companies as a way of encouraging competition and improving standards and the quality of products and services in the country.

Olam, a new entrant in the company rankings, was listed as the seventh overall best performing company in Ghana and was additionally decorated with the Best New Entrant Award for being the best performing company among 20 new entrants admitted to the club.

Packaged food companies

Established in 1994, Olam Ghana is today one of the country’s leading agri-commodity and packaged food companies.

The company ranks among the largest private Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) in Ghana’s Cocoa sector and manufactures three distinct cocoa liquor recipes at its fully automated processing plant.

Olam Ghana is also the country’s leading cashew exporter and one of its largest importers and distributors of rice.

“As a business, we remain relentless in our commitment to grow responsibly and enriching livelihoods.

It is not only a deserving honour but a challenge to perform even better and maintain our high standards in the industry,” Mr Agrawal said.

A subsidiary of Olam International, a global leader in agri-business, supplying food ingredients and raw materials to over 22,900 customers worldwide, Olam Ghana runs a state-of-the-art wheat flour mill, making it one of the country’s leading millers.

In addition, Olam Ghana operates a Tomato Mix processing and canning facility and a biscuit manufacturing factory, producing some of the most popular, quality brands like Perk, King Cracker, Royal Feast, Royal Aroma and Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato paste under respective portfolios.

The company has created employment opportunities for more than 1,500 Ghanaians.

The 17th Edition of the GC100 Awards was organised by the GIPC in Accra last Friday on the theme: “Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Opportunities for Growth and Job Creation”.
