NSA Boss urges Ghana Rugby Union to settle impasse amicably

Date:

Professor Peter Twumasi, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has urged the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRU) to amicably settle their differences as their current actions remain unhealthy for the development of the sport.

His assertion follows a meeting with three board members of the GRFU on Tuesday, after the President of the Rugby Union was asked to step down pending a determination of a case brought forward by Ghana Rugby Union Players Association (GRUPA).

In a statement released by the Public Relations Department of the NSA and copied to the GNA Sports, Professor Twumasi advised members of the GRFU to act in accordance with their constitutional guidelines.

Professor Twumasi in the statement said he was optimistic that their constitution made provisions for resolving such disputes when they arise and emphasized the essential role of Congress even where they are gray areas.

He assured them of the Authority’s readiness to intervene fully to resolve the current dispute should their internal controls fail to achieve an amicable settlement.

Mr. James Nunno, Vice President of GRU who led the delegation to the NSA in his response said the existing constitution does provide direction to solve the crisis situation but sought to seek counsel from the NSA to address their concerns.
