Let’s endeavour to cement the bond of peace, social cohesion – Gospel Ministers

Date:

The Gospel Ministers Network has implored political parties and their followings to remain tolerant, and respect the views of their opponents in the electioneering, to avoid hostilities and disturbance of national peace during the December 7 polls.

Bishop Samuel Osei-Quashie, its President, said the Network, comprising of over local 80 churches and Ministers of God, had been together to advance the work of God.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Bishop Osei-Quashie reminded Ghanaians they were one people from a common ‘blood line’ due to inter-religious and ethnic marriages, hence the need to be guarded and not allow partisan politics to divide them.

He warned that every family would be affected in any pre- or post-election disturbances and advised all persons to contribute their quota for a peaceful Election 2024, to strengthen and cement the bond of unity and social cohesion in society.

Bishop Osei-Quashie, also the Sector Overseer of the Victory Bible Church International, explained that election violence and disorder would retard development efforts, worsening the nation’s economic situation, leaving a negative impact on vulnerable groups including persons with disabilities to bear the brunt.

“So, we must all see ourselves as one people and stand against tendencies that can mar the beauty of the election and plunge the nation into chaos,”, Bishop Osei-Quashie advised.

The Reverend Minister said though the Election 2024 was crucial, it was not the first time Ghanaians were going to the polls to elect leaders of their choices and advised politicians and the various political parties to also allow the interest of the nation to supersede their personal gains.

He advised the youth to also focus on and build a better future for themselves, instead of allowing political parties to use them as conduit to perpetrate violence.
