KNUST: A medical student is in stable condition after trying suicide.

Date:

According to the university’s administration, a second-year medical science student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who recently attempted suicide is presently in stable health and getting care from physicians and counsellors.

The event occurred on Tuesday night when the student attempted to leap from the fifth-floor balcony of the Brunei dormitory.

Thankfully, several of his coworkers intervened and pulled him back up, following which he was promptly rushed to the hospital.

KNUST Public Relations Officer Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe underlined the necessity of obtaining prompt help from counsellors and discouraged students from attempting suicide.

“For now, he is stable and investigations are ongoing to find out the cause of his attempted suicide and the various support systems that we can afford him.”

The university has urged media outlets to refrain from disclosing the image and name of the student to the public.

He added that steps will be taken to contact these media houses and request the removal of such details, as they have the potential to exacerbate the student’s situation.
