Klefe can become a center for technical education and computer training

Paramount of Klefe in the Ho Municipality, has called on the Government to help develop its technology education.

He asked to support the local technical institute, which he said had become the grounds for developing the community into a hub for technology education.

Togbe was addressing the grand durbar of the 2023 Zendo Glimetoza and Klefe Yam Festival.

Students from the technical institute showcased an impressive array of tech they had developed, and among the numerous innovations was a smart waste bin.

The community has in recent times benefited from a partnership with byteAfrica, a tech training organisation, which helped provide access to coding, robotics among other dominant technologies for the youth.

The Paramount Chief said hundreds of youths had benefited from the program which was instituted by the traditional authorities, and which greatly advantaged the establishment of the technical vocational institute.

He said the institute presently needed crucial infrastructure to be able to meet the growing student population.

“Klefe has started a journey to build a model technical institute in the municipality and the country at large. But we can’t do it alone. We need strong central and local government support through the TVET team, the Municipal Assembly, benevolent organisations, spirited individuals, and all citizens to make it successful.

“With the needed support, Mr President, Klefe can become the learning center for technical education and computer empowerment, a clear avenue for poverty alleviation and youth empowerment”.

A funds appeal was made at the durbar to raise one million cedis to construct a hostel facility and complete a workshop for the institute, and which attracted notable contributions from including, Leader of the First Sky Group of companies who donated GHC 100,000.

The paramount chief commended the government for various development initiatives including roads, and health facilities, noting also how a deep commitment to science and technology education benefited the community.

The Zendo Glimetoza Festival is rotated among … communities, and which include Kpeve, Tsorhor, Klikor and Klefe.

The Paramount Chief thanked the Government for various development projects in the Zendo communities, and asked that crucial interventions in education, health, and communication were addressed to aid their speedy advance.

The durbar attracted several dignitaries included the chieftaincy minister who represented the President of the Republic, and there were traditional leaders from across the country.
