If Akufo-Addo calls, I’ll assist him, but I won’t accept any appointments from him – Amoako Baah

Date:

Dr Richard Amoako Baah, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that he is willing to assist President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-government Addo’s and the President himself.

However, he stated that he will not accept any appointment from Mr. Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Amoako Baah stated that the NPP has several qualified men and women who can serve, and that the President should make it a priority to replace some of his current appointees.

“This is not about me seeking jobs or anything, there are so many people, people have aspirations, you put this one there for two or three years, bring somebody else, not necessarily fire the other one, and there will be instances where you will see the new person performing better,” Dr Amoako Baah said on News 360 on TV3 on Monday, August 8. But how will you see that if you don’t give anyone a chance?

“It is good for your party too, you have soo many people so why are you not looking at any other body. I am not talking for myself, because I have said it, if the President asks me for help, I will do but if he gives me an appointment I won’t take. If he says I should come and help him to do something I will do that but not appointment.”

He was reacting to the decision by President  Akufo-Addo not to change his appointees because in his view, most of his ministers have worked up to expectation.

The President said their output has been considerable and that is what he looks at.

Mr Akufo-Addo said these when asked for his views on calls to reshuffle his ministers while speaking on North Star Radio in Tamale as part of his two-day tour of the Northern Region on Monday August 8.

“Many of them for me have done outstanding work,” he said.

“Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at,” he added.

The president further indicated that “If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call.”
