Hearts of Oak appoints Kosta Papic as head coach

Date:

Accra Hearts of Oak has appointed Serbian trainer Kosta Papic as the new Head Coach.

He takes over from Edward Nii Odoom who has been acting as a stop-gap coach in that position since the departure of Coach Kim Grant in 2019 following a disappointing start to the 2019/2020 league season which was subsequently truncated due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Coach Odoom who was then the Assistant to Grant has moved to the youth team following the arrival of the Serbian tactician.

Coach Odoom, prior to taking over as the club’s head coach was the Assistant to Grant.

Kosta Papic has worked with several clubs across the African continent thus has enough experience on the Africa terrain.

This is the second time the Serbian would be managing the Phobians having handled the side in the 2008/09 league season.

The 60 year old has worked with clubs including Lobi Stars, Enyimba FC, Enugu Rangers, Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Young Africans SC, Chippa United, Black Leopards and Polokwane City.

The Accra-based club currently sits bottom of the table of the 18-club league having lost one and drawn the other in their first two games in the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League.
