Manchester United and England veteran Wayne Rooney quipped that Spurs are holding Harry Kane “prisoner” as speculation over his future continues.
In an interview with The Athletic, Rooney joked that Tottenham was holding Kane hostage, but he feels the England striker would be a great signing for his former club United this summer.
“Last season, I believed it was time to depart, and he stayed,” Rooney explained. “Harry is undoubtedly experiencing it and is aware that there are prizes available for him to win.” He has done everything he can to attempt to get to Tottenham. This is undoubtedly the time for him to move on, and he appears to be ready for it, but we all know how difficult Tottenham can be at times.”
This summer, like every other summer of late, speculation is rife that Kane will leave Tottenham. He’s been linked with moves to United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich since the 2022-23 season ended.
