GPL Week 33: Hearts are Champions, Bechem beat Kotoko to stay safe

Date:

Accra Hearts of Oak has won the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title breaking their 12-year trophy-less jinx.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who has been a revelation for the Phobians this season was on target once again but his strike was cancelled out by Liberty Professionals defender Paul Kwame who delivered a ferocious header in the late stages of the game to secure a point for the away side.

Steven Owusu’s brace for Bechem United proved crucial as they edged Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Sarfo Taylor scored the consolation goal for the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko was not able to keep the chase on the arch-rivals Hearts are four points clear of the top of the table with a game left in the season.
