GIIF supports COVID-19 Fund with GH¢ 500,000

The Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) has donated GH¢ 500,000 to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund.

A delegation from the GIIF, led by the Board Chairman, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, presented the money to the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Osei Opare at the Jubilee House yesterday.

Other members of the delegation were the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIIF, Mr Reginald Okai, and a Board member, Nana Afua Kyerewaa Ababio.

Government lauded

In his brief remarks, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi acknowledged the efforts of the government on measures put in place to deal with the pandemic.

 He mentioned that it was incumbent on all to support the government to do even more to save lives as cases continued to surge.

 Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi said the GIIF was pleased to support government’s efforts in” these abnormal times.”

GIIF ever ready

He pledged the commitment  of the Fund to continue to live up to its mandate of mobilising, managing, coordinating and providing financial resources for the development of critical infrastructure in Ghana.

He assured the government that the Fund would support local manufacturers to produce quality and affordable personal protective equipment for all.

The Chief of Staff expressed gratitude to the GIIF for the donation , saying it was a step in the right direction.

She said the fight against COVID-19 was a national effort for which reason all must contribute to make it successful.
