Date:

Management of the GCB Bank, as part of corporate social responsibility, have donated the sum of GH¢30,000 to the Dagbon Development Fund (DDF). The bank made this donation when its Managing Director (MD), Kofi Adomakoh, led a delegation to pay homage to the Ya-Na at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.

The visit also served as an opportunity to felicitate with the Overlord and people of Dagbon as they celebrate the Damba festival.

Members of the delegation who accompanied the MD were the Deputy MD in charge of Operations, Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey; board members, Osman Ayuba and Alhaji Alhassan Yakubu; and the Northern sector area manager, Alhaji Mohammed Osman Mipo, as well as some staff of the bank.

Speaking after the donation, the MD said the Overlord’s enskinment has brought about peace and development in the area, and this has also gone a long way to sustain the bank’s business activities.

He also expressed the bank’s appreciation for the cordial relationship it enjoys with the palace and people of Dagbon, saying the contribution is a token and expression of the bond. “As an indigenous bank, we will continue to work for the interests of people in the area to bring about development and curb the unemployment rates,” he said.

He noted that Dagbon has a huge potential for growth, and asked that all stakeholders collaborate to bring about the needed development – while assuring that the bank will expand its offerings in the area. He also appealed to the chiefs and people of Dagbon to continue with the cordial relationship to help sustain business for the bank and bring about lasting development in Dagbon.

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II, expressed gratitude to the bank’s management for the kind gesture, saying the donation will help in the development of economic activities for the people in the area, as well as refurbishing the palace to serve as a draw for tourists.

“The development of Dagbon Traditional area has been in our heart, hence establishment of the fund to mobilise resources to rebrand the Dagbon chieftaincy institution for future generations,” he stated. He assured that the money will be utilised for its purpose to achieve the stated aims.

The DDF was established by the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Na Abukari II, in October 2021 with the express purpose of pooling resources to aid the social-economic development of Dagbon Traditional Area.
