EPCG Good Shepherd congregation distributes gifts to prisoners worth GH¢6,000

Date:

The Youth Ministry of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana, Good Shepherd Congregation, Lashibi, made a donation to the Senior Correctional Facility as part of its Prison Feast program on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Representatives from the church defied heavy rains throughout the day to visit, entertain the inmates, and make the presentation.

The Prison Feast organizers hope to make this a yearly affair, during Easter celebrations.

“The Easter season is one of profound contemplation, joy, and happiness, but not for many, especially prisoners. Following the lead of our Lord, we seek to reach prisoners this Easter, just like Christ was attended to during his journey through death and eventual resurrection. We seek to provide them with a taste of Easter by feting them and presenting our donations,” said the President of the Youth Ministry – Mr. Raymond Nuworkpor.

“As brothers and sisters, we try to seize every opportunity to help when we can,” said a member of the Youth Ministry, Ms. Faustina Tofah.

“Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has told us that when we do this for others, we do it for God himself.”

The Youth Ministry donated items worth over GH¢6,000, including 76 cartons of various products from GB Foods, 100 loaves of A1 Bread, 10 bags of rice, 50 packs of sachet water, several packs of evergreen tissues, several boxes of biscuits, 20 packs of assorted drinks, and several bottles liquid soap and cooking oil.

The occasion was graced by dignitaries such as the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency—Theresa Lardi Awuni and celebrated playwright and spoken word artist Chief Moomen.

The officials in charge of the correctional facility received the donations and thanked the Ministry for the noble work done.
