Election 2024: Bawumia is the best person for Ghana’s future—NAPO.

Date:

The running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has declared that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is Ghana’s best option in the upcoming December elections.

Speaking to members of the NPP’s TESCON group at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Tuesday, November 19, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, highlighted Bawumia’s bold and practical solutions to address the challenges faced by the youth.

He urged the gathering to work tirelessly to ensure victory for the NPP in the 2024 elections.

“The future doesn’t belong to us because I am current. The future doesn’t belong to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because he is current. He is the one who is going to lead you into the future. And ask yourself, who can be my father such that the person will think about my well-being? All elections are about your well-being.”

NAPO also condemned the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) for petitioning the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over alleged discrimination in the Free Senior High School programme.

The private schools contend that the government’s 30 percent priority placement policy, which reserves seats at Category A senior high schools for public school students is discriminatory towards private school students.

However, on Tuesday, November 19, during an engagement with students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the NPP’s running mate rebuked the private schools for their stance.

“I heard Ghana National Association of Private Schools are telling us that they are going to court to stop the Free SHS for allocating 30 percent of placements to poor children who go to public schools: the audacity, the audacity, the nerve.

“The reality was that when I introduced 30 percent for equity, I didn’t pluck it from the sky. It already existed but was abused for the well-connected and the privileged.”
