Dome-Kwabenya MP and GEMA support Muslim Community

Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency has supported the Muslim Community of Kwabenya with assorted items towards the celebration of the annual Ramadan.
 
The donation, which was in conjunction with the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA) included; 45 cartons milo, 30 bags of rice, 45 bags of sugar, 70 cartons milk, and 45 boxes of Lipton with 500 pieces of face mask to help the Muslim Community in protecting themselves against the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Mr Robert Osei Mensah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Dome-Kwabenya representing the MP said the COVID-19 pandemic was a very dangerous disease and advised that people observe the safety protocols for protection.
 
He commended the Muslim Community for the amazing work done for the country by fasting and praying for the nation’s progress and safety.
 
Presenting the items on behalf of the MP, Madam Janet Tulasi Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) commended Chiefs and Imams in the area for supporting the Assembly and the MP in executing their duties for the development of the community.
 
Some of the assorted items were presented to the NPP Nasara Coordinator to be given to Muslims in the area.
She said the Assembly and the MP support the community every year in the commemoration of Ramadan.
Madam Mensah urged the Muslim Community to adhere to the safety protocols to ensure that everybody was protected against the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
She said the Assembly had deployed a task force in the community especially in the market to enforce President’s directive on mandatory wearing of face mask in public.
She said it was not the desire of the Assembly to prosecute members of the Community but individuals who continue to flout the official directives would end up facing the the law.
 
Madam Mensah said the COVID-19 pandemic was no respecter of person and urged the public to practice social distancing, regular washing of hands, the use of sanitizers, observing social distancing protocols, and most importantly staying at home if they had nothing important doing in town.
 
Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim Community in the GEMA and the Ga Council of Imams, Alhaji Mohammed Bashiru Inusa Sariki, the Zongo Chief of Kwabenya commended the MCE and the MP for the annual donation to the community.
 
He commended the MP for continuously thinking about the safety of the citizens in her constituency and taking steps to protect them.
 
The Zongo Chief said: “We are praying that the COVID-19 will disappear by the time we are done with the Ramadan.”
 
He said as this year is an election year, it was the prayer of the community that the rightful persons, who will bring peace, stability, development, and safety would be elected to steer the affairs of the nation.
