READ: Philippians 3:12-20
“Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.” – Colossians 1:29
Our generation of ministers has the Laodecian spirit of complacency. That spirit speaks today and says, “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing.” God says, you don’t know that you are “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” He continues to say, “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” (Revelation 3:17-18).
You do need something! You are not really rich and you are not really as stable and as safe as you think.
Until you are in your grave, there will always be a little bit more that you can do for God. Can’t you win a few more souls even though you have won many souls for the Lord already? Can’t you plant another church? Can’t you hold more crusades and campaigns and conferences for Jesus? Can’t you build another church? Can’t you give a little bit more? Can’t you write one more book? Instead of resting now why don’t you rest in peace later?
Dear friend, don’t deceive yourself ! You can do a little bit more! Most people are not doing as much as they could. A little bit more prayer and a little bit more effort will make a big difference. Why don’t you give a little bit more time to the study of the Word and to achieving of your spiritual goals?
Jesus spoke about going the extra mile. If you would add a few more yards you may achieve the goal of going at least one mile for Jesus.
