COVID-19: KNUST implements “one student one-room” policy for final year students

Date:

The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has arranged for about 1,000 to 1,500 final year students returning to campus to get a room each, the University spokesperson has said.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of KNUST, Mr. Daniel Norish Bekoe said this forms part of measures to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus and to ensure compliance with the protocols recommended by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and other Health Authorities.

President Akufo-Addo in his eleventh televised nation’s address announced that schools reopen for final year students to enable them to complete the 2019/2020 academic year and prepare to sit for their exit examination.

Following the partial reopening of schools, the President tasked various university managments to put adequate measures in place to ensure the safety of students, lecturers and non teaching staff.

As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the disease in schools, the government had distributed PPE’s and logistics to the 234 tertiary schools in the country.

The KNUST management in line with the President’s directive has said arrangements had been made for each student to get a room to ensure social distancing is observed.
