Corruption: We appreciate CDD’s feedback. Governing Communicator

Date:

Kofi Tonto, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, has praised the Ghana Center for Development Development’s (CDD Ghana) publication of the Afrobarometer Corruption Report.

He claimed that because they are in charge of a democratic system, they encourage public input.

“First off, I believe we should appreciate CDD for doing this. You cannot run a democratic governance system without feedback. It is vital.

“We as a government, we are here to serve the people and so from time to time, we need to go back and get feedback. As a matter of fact as communicators, our job is not only to talk, our job is to also listen and bring back feedback,” he said on the New Day show on TV3.

The Afrobarometer report on Tuesday July 26 placed the Office of the Presidency second on the list of institutions or offices perceived to be corrupt.

The Police was first, according to the survey.

Members of Parliament were placed third while the judiciary fell at the fourth pace

Commenting on this report, the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr Eric Oduro Osae called for strict application of anti-corruption laws in the country as part of the fight against the menace.

In his view, application of the law marks the first major step in winning the fight against the practice.

Dr Oduro-Osae was speaking on the Ghana Tonight Show with Alfred Ocansey on TV3 on Tuesday July 26.

“we should double or efforts in fighting corruption. A lot of people still don’t understand the intricacies of corruption and its impact. It also tells me that a lot of education is needed. It is a wake up call for us to double our efforts towards the fight against corruption.”
