CMA GCM set to launch product to boost trade between Europe and West African markets

Container transportation and shipping company CMA CGM will launch its new product Guinea Gulf Express (GGX) in complement to the current 6 weekly services by November 5. This will further improve the company’s service offer on the trade between Europe and the Mediterranean to West African markets.

GGX is the second service from Gibraltar hubs linking European, Med and North America to Tema port in Ghana, Nigeria’s Lagos port and Conakry, Guinea.

“Significant transit time improvement up to 12 days to Tema, 10 days to Tin Can Lagos and 2 days to Conakry. Tema is reached from Antwerp in 19 days, Tin Can Lagos in 22 days and Conakry in 14 days.,” the release issued by CMA CGM stated.

In Med, Genoa will benefit from a transit time of 18 days to Tema, 21 days to Nigeria and 13 days to Conakry. In the US, Houston to Tema in 36 days, Tin Can in 39 days and Conakry in 31 days.

The port rotation will be Morocco’s Tangier – Spain’s Algeciras – Conakry – Tema – Tin Can – Tangier.

The acquisition of Delmas by CMA CGM allowed the opening of the agency CMA CGM Guinea on June 18, 2011, via the call of the ship Alexandra Rickmers.

On the other hand, installation of a series of three coast stations in Guinea will be financed by Belgium for 3 million euros, this project is part of the implementation of international conventions and the recommendations of the International Maritime Organization (IOM).

Guinea will benefit from a series of three coast stations to be installed in Sandervalia, Kassa and Kamsar. This project will enable the country to fulfill one of the most important obligations and responsibility as a coastal state which are safety of navigation on its maritime area and strong contribution to the prevention of illegal acts at sea.
