Chief directs Police to arrest people without nose mask

Date:

Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II, the Paramount Chief of Berekum Traditional Area has directed the Police to arrest anyone who refuses to wear nose mask in the Berekum township.

Daasebre Dr. Diawuo gave the directive when he led some members of the Berekum Traditional Council to present some personal protective equipment and other health items to be shared between the Berekum Municipal and the Berekum West District Health Directorates in the Bono Region.

The Items, including; hand sanitizers, hand gloves, infrared thermometers, veronica buckets, methylated spirits and tissue papers would be distributed to the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital, Happy Hospital, also private health facility at Berekum and all health facilities under the two Directorates to help fight the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

He expressed worry that some people had disregarded the need to observe the health and safety protocols to prevent spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as most of such people went about their normal duties without wearing nose mask.

Daasebre Dr. Diawuo II said the situation could contribute greatly to spread the COVID-19 from one person to the other through droplets of people during sneezing or coughing.

He therefore appealed to the Assemblies and health authorities to intensify public education for the populace to be highly aware about the deadly nature of the disease.

Dr Bediama Duut, the Berekum Municipal Director of Health who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Daasebre Dr Diawuo and the Council and assured that the items would be used for their intended purpose.
