Today, October 11, Financial Court 2 of the High Court Complex will hear a request from former Minister of Sanitation Cecilia Dapaah over the seizure and freezing order submitted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The same Financial Court 2 will hear the OSP’s request for permission to file a supplementary affidavit in order to present more evidence discovered against Ms Dapaah on Monday, October 16.
On October 10, Cecilia Dapaah submitted a request for an interlocutory injunction against the OSP in an effort to prevent the Office from looking into and bringing charges against her and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor, for alleged corruption and associated offenses.
According to court documents obtained by citinewsroom.com, the former Minister is also pleading with the judge to order the OSP to do something.
She is also praying the court to declare the reseizure of monies found in her Abelemkpe residence and the refreezing of her bank accounts as unfair and capricious.
“A Declaration that the Respondent’s re-seizure of the money (initially seized from the Applicant’s home on 24/07/23) and re-freezing of Applicant’s bank accounts respectively on 5th September 2023 is unfair, unreasonable, capricious, arbitrary, and ultra vires the Respondent’s statutory powers under Act 959 relative to the constitutional provisions of Articles 23 and 296 of the Constitution, 1992.”
Cecilia Dapaah came into the limelight in July when it emerged that two of her house helps were before an Accra Circuit Court, for allegedly stealing monies and items running into millions of Ghana Cedis.
Calls were made for her to resign and be investigated and she yielded to the public pressure and resigned from her position on July 22, 2023.
