CAF President visits Kenya to inspect AFCON 2027 venues

Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has visited Nairobi, Kenya to inspect proposed venues to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). 

The 36th edition of the biennial African football tournament would be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. 

The tournament, after years of dominance among Northern and Western African countries would for the first time since Ethiopia 1976 be staged in East Africa. 

As part of getting geared for a memorable tournament, the CAF President began a tour to speed up preparations for the continental showpiece. 

He was joined by Kipchumba Murkomen, Kenya’s Minister of Sport, and Nick Mwendwa, President of Kenya Federation who took the team on a tour to the various stadia.

The team visited the Kasarani Stadium, Nyayo Stadium and Talanta Stadium which were being renovated to meet CAF’s requirement. 

The continent’s football body would in the coming days visit Tanzania and Uganda
