Barcelona’s devastating injury run has left the young star out for at least two months.

Date:

Marc Casado will be out for at least two months after suffering a ligament damage during Barcelona’s exciting victory over Atletico Madrid.

Following an altercation with Antoine Griezmann on the pitch, the Spaniard tore his knee ligament. Hansi Flick promptly replaced him, substituting Eric Garcia for the central midfielder. Barcelona confirmed on Monday that the player had tests that showed he had ruptured the ligament in his right knee. Additional testing will be done to find out how serious the injury is.

Per SPORT journalist Toni Juanmarti, the midfielder will be sidelined for at least two months, which more or less confirms that the youngster’s season is over. The news comes as a huge blow for Barcelona, who are competing for a treble in the 2024-25 campaign. Casado had established himself as a mainstay in Flick’s side, having appeared in 36 matches across all competitions thus far, where he scored one goal and provided six assists.

Despite the injury setback, the Catalan giants triumphed in a six-goal thriller at Wanda Metropolitano after coming back from a two-goal deficit. Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal were on target alongside Ferran Torres, who scored a brace.
