AT&T will also have a 5G Samsung phone next year

Date:

Coming on the heels of an announcement that Samsung will offer a 5G phone on Verizon next year, AT&T has announced that it will also offer the same 5G flagship from the Korean phone manufacturer sometime in spring 2019.

That makes the upcoming Samsung phone the second 5G device for AT&T, following the already-announced Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot “puck” that the carrier will launch its network with. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit starts today, so odds are we’ll hear more about the hardware that will likely power that Samsung phone soon.

As for the Samsung phone in question, details on it are still slim. Samsung is reportedly working on a limited 5G variant of its upcoming Galaxy S10 as well as a supersized 6.7-inch “Beyond X” model to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy line of phones that would also feature support for 5G, so there’s no shortage of options.

As for AT&T, the carrier is promising to have its 5G service in 12 markets by the end of 2018, with a formal launch coming sometime in the next few weeks.
