Assin North Incumbent NPP MP loses election

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Assin North Constituency, Madam Abena Durowaa Mensah has lost her seat to the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mr.James Joe Quayson.
 
Of the 32,830 total votes cast, Madam Mensah got 14,799 while Mr Quayson had 17,498 votes with 539 total ballots being rejected.
 
Madam Durowaa Mensah won the 2016 general elections with 15,553 votes out of the 27,812 valid votes cast representing 56.77% beating the then NDC candidate Samuel Ambre who bagged 10,751, representing 39.24%.
 
However, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, won the Presidential votes in the constituency with 26,797 votes while Mr John Mahama followed with 15,003 votes, an indication that people voted ‘skirt and blouse’ as pertained in many Constituencies across the Region.
 
Other Presidential results included Ghana Union Movement (GUM) 486, Convention People’s Party (CPP) 34, Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) 20, Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) 14 and All People’s Congress (APC), 11.
 
The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) polled 24, People’s National Convention (PNC) had 10, Progressive People’s Party (PPP) polled 7, National Democratic Party (NDP), 12 with 22 votes for Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker an Independent Candidate.
