President Akufo-Addo is requesting that the West issue an official apology and pay reparations for the alleged cruel treatment of Africans during the slave trade.
According to Akufo-Addo, Africa has to be made whole for the violations of human rights committed by the slave owners.
Speaking at the inaugural Accra Reparation Conference, Nana Akufo-Addo asserts that although reparations are necessary, European nations involved in the slave trade also have a need to apologise for the atrocities they did against Africans.

- According to Akufo-Addo, inflation would fall to 26.7% by December and 15% by the end of 2024.
“It is time for Africa, thirty million of whose sons and daughters had their freedoms curtailed and sold into slavery, also to receive reparations. No amount of money can restore the damage caused by the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its consequences, which spanned many centuries, but surely, this is a matter that the world must confront and can no longer ignore.”
“And even before these discussions on reparations conclude, the entire continent of Africa deserves a formal apology from the European nations involved in the slave trade.”
