The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has rejected claims that President Nana Akufo-Addo has won the December 7 presidential elections.
He insists that data available to them suggests that the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama will be declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission.
“We have won all the deciding regions. We’ve won the Greater Accra and Central Regions. We’ve won previously existing Brong Ahafo Region. What else do we need to win elections in this country? We’ve won close to 40 percent in Eastern Region and close to 30 percent in Ashanti Region. How can anybody say Nana Akufo-Addo has won this election? We will not sit by for the ballot of the people to be stolen,” he said when he addressed the press Tuesday evening, December 8, 2020.

He also insisted that, members of the NDC have every right to jubilate over the supposed victory of their flagbearer.
The NDC scribe also insisted that the NDC has won the majority of the seats in Parliament and was already putting measures in place to select the Speaker of Parliament.
Although the Returning Officer of the presidential election, Jean Mensa, is yet to declare the winner of the just-ended polls, leadership of the NPP and NDC have both claimed victory.
In another development, Asiedu Nketia insisted that the Electoral Commission will not be able to declare the results by close of day today as promised.
“We are happy that the EC has shifted its own timeline because we told them. As we speak, collation has not gone anywhere. Our agents [at the EC’s headquarters] are relaying information to us. So we don’t think that any credible results can be declared before tomorrow. So let us keep our fingers crossed and hope that the Electoral Commission will do the needful to save this country, he added.
