The Works Department of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly(AWMA)in the Western Region has supervised the completion of a number of projects in the Municipality.
The projects include; the supply of 1,100 pieces of school furniture to selected schools, construction of a 3-seater W/C, two Washrooms, fence wall and playground at Fretsi Kindergarten, CHPS Compounds at Ewusiejoe, Kajebil and Yabiw.
Madam Henrietta Mary Eyison, Municipal Chief Executive said this during the first session of the Assembly at Agona-Nkwanta.
According to her, on-going projects expected to be completed soon are, 3-Unit Classroom Block with ancillary facilities at Asemkow and the construction of 10 Mechanized Boreholes throughout the Municipality.
The MCE said new projects which have gone through tendering and have been awarded as at July 1, 2020 include; the renovation of the Assembly Hall at the cost of GHC 37,130.10, supply of goods for Assembly Hall at the cost of GHC 97,873.00, construction of one 4-seater Water Closet facility at the cost of GHC42, 044.22 and the construction of two mechanized boreholes, water tank and their stands at the cost of GHC98, 864.28.
The rest are construction of three concrete stands and installation of water tanks at the cost of GHC65, 543.50, supply of 195 hexagonal tables and 1,170 chairs for KG pupils at the cost of GHC79, 950.00, construction of one hand-pump fitted borehole at the cost of GHC26, 589.20 and completion of 2-Unit KG Block with office and store and the construction of 4-seater KVIP with two urinals at the cost of GH?69, 480.00.
Madam Eyison indicated that the renovation works at the Revenue Office located in the Agona-Nkwanta Market was ongoing and expected to be completed in four weeks to enhance and facilitate collection of revenue in the Municipality.
She said in addition, renovation works would be done on the Internal Audit and Human Resource Managers Bungalow with subsequent renovation works to be done on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Municipal Finance Officer and the Municipal Planning Officers Bungalows.
The MCE said construction works on the 10-seater W/C,12 bathroom facility with funding from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) was practically completed and expected to be opened to the public soon.
Touching on roads, she said the Assembly had constructed a number of roads including; the Apowa road at the total cost of GHC49, 792.50, while the Ghana Highway Authority(GHA)awarded Phase one of the project for the upgrade of the Sankor – Cape-Three-Points road with funding from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
She indicated that the Feeder Roads Department of the Assembly also awarded the construction of 8km stretch of the 15km Barrier-Egyambra road with the expectation that the other half of the road would be awarded later in the year to ensure a comfortable ride for users.
