Bernardo Silva has disclosed that he would attempt to persuade Portugal teammate Joao Neves to choose Manchester City over Manchester United.
The Portuguese player stated that he would attempt to persuade Benfica midfielder Neves, valued at £105 million, to choose Manchester City over United, their bitter rivals, if given the opportunity.
Old Trafford has been linked to the 19-year-old, but the Portuguese team is hesitant to part ways with their top player in the next transfer window. According to reports, the player’s contract contains a €120 million (£105 million/$131 million) release clause that went into effect in the summer.

Neves graduated from the Eagles’ youth academy and made his senior debut for the club in 2022. In the ongoing season, he has appeared in 18 matches, recording one goal and one assist. He received his first national team call-up in October this year and made his international debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina in an international friendly.
Erik ten Hag is on the lookout for a quality midfield option after missing several key United players due to injury, including Casemiro, who has been ruled out with a thigh injury until January.
WHAT BERNARDO SILVA SAID
Speaking to reporters, Bernardo said: “If I can, I’ll make a move for Joao Neves to go to Man City instead of Man United, of course.”
WHAT NEXT FOR JOAO NEVES?
For now, the teenager remains committed to Benfica and will be next seen in action for the Portuguese giants as they next take on Famalicao in a Liga Portugal clash on Saturday. Manchester United, meanwhile, will be back on Premier League duty against Everton a day later.
