After reportedly attacking an MCE, an NPP organizer in Asawase was granted bail.

Date:

After being questioned by police regarding an alleged assault on Kennedy Kankam, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Asokore Mampong Municipality, Rashid Dauda, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) organizer for the Asawase Constituency, was later freed on bond.

Earlier, Mr. Dauda and a few constituency executives addressed the MCE in his office and demanded that money be released to support the recent Restricted Voter Registration exercise’s activities.

The Constituency Organizer and the MCE got into an argument over the MCE’s rejection.

Even though the event was reported weeks ago, Mr. Dauda wasn’t questioned until Tuesday by the Asokore Mampong police.

After his statement was taken, he was released on bail while police investigations continue.

The First Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Asawase Constituency, Noah Owusu, denied claims that Mr. Dauda physically assaulted the MCE during their altercation.

He expressed concern that this situation is creating tension within the NPP in the constituency.
