GPL Week 14: Hearts, Kotoko secure crucial wins to move them up.

Date:

Some matchday 14 matchups in the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) produced some unusual results.

Asante Kotoko won their third consecutive GPL match, defeating Dreams 2-1 at the Tuba Astro Turf in Kasoa.

Baba Yahaya and Saaka Dauda scored for the Porcupine Warriors, who won all three points and moved up to fifth place in the league table.

Joseph Esso’s second-half goal could only serve as a consolation as Dreams suffered their sixth defeat of the season and remained in the relegation zone.

Accra Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways on Saturday, defeating Berekum Chelsea 3-1 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Ahmed Ramzy Yussif scored the Phobians’ first goal in the 16th minute, and Hamza Issah added the second five minutes later.

Berekum Chelsea rallied back with a goal from Emmanuel Sarpong, but Kwabena Boateng restored Hearts’ two-goal lead in the 62nd minute.

The results propelled the Phobians to sixth place in the league table, just one point behind arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

Kpando Heart of Lions maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a bumper 3-1 win against Basake Holy Stars at home on Saturday.

Nana Kwame Oppong grabbed a brace, Emmanuel Ofori Sakyi was on target while Emmanuel Agyei scored a consolation for the Premier League new boys at the Kpando Stadium.
