Bechem unites for peaceful walk ahead of Elections.

Various Institutions in the Bechem Municipality of the Ahafo Region have organized a special health and peace walk aimed at promoting a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the December general elections.

Participants comprising of workers of the institutions and the public converged at the Community Centre for aerobics and were addressed by political leaders, security heads, and departmental heads.

Among the speakers were the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Collins Offinam Takyi; Chief Superintendent Joseph Oppong, Bechem Divisional Police Commander; Dr. Isaac Godfred Antwi, Principal of Bechem St. Joseph College of Education; Dr. Twumasi David, Medical Superintendent of the Bechem Government Hospital; and Mr. Mark Agyemang, manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Other speakers included Mr. Joseph Appiah, representing the Member of parliament for the area (MP) for the area, Dr. Yeboah Sekyere; Mr. Charles Asiedu, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate; and Mr. Christopher Kofi Nti, New Force, and Independent Parliamentary Candidate.

The speakers emphasized the need to preserve peace in the area and Ghana by going through the election peacefully and orderly.

Chief Superintendent Joseph Oppong, Bechem Divisional Police Commander, assured the public of the security agencies’ readiness to ensure a peaceful atmosphere and cautioned the youth not to sacrifice uutheir lives for selfish individuals.

He warned that the security agencies would deal ruthlessly with anyone who disturbed the peace.

The participants were happy and commended the organizers for the exercise, saying it was a demonstration of the institutions’ commitment to serve the nation with unity of mind and purpose.
