Xavi Simons wants Barcelona to return! PSG loanee to press for Camp Nou move as he intends to perform ‘contractual commitment’

Date:

Xavi Simons is apparently looking to return to Barcelona, with the Paris Saint-Germain loanee preparing to exercise a “contractual commitment”.

Barcelona has shifted their focus to Simons, a 21-year-old midfielder who has impressed on loan at RB Leipzig from PSG, according to Mundo Deportivo. However, the Catalan club is unable to meet PSG’s demands for a permanent move of €100 million (£86.09/$107.41 million) and is attempting to negotiate a loan agreement for the midfielder, who previously played for the club’s academy.

Despite the complex and difficult relationship between Barcelona and PSG, Simons holds a “contractual commitment” that grants him the autonomy to select his loan destination for the upcoming season. This provision potentially paves the way for the La Masia graduate to return to his boyhood club.

Simons has made significant contributions on the field at Leipzig with nine goals in 40 appearances this season. His performances have piqued Barcelona’s interest in the midfielder, who was named ‘Xavi’ after the current Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez.

Simons and his representatives are set to meet with PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi to secure validation for his loan move to Barcelona. The Dutch midfielder’s willingness to fulfil his childhood dream of representing Barcelona adds impetus to the negotiations. With negotiations already underway and the player’s aspirations aligned with Barcelona’s ambitions, the stage is set for a significant chapter in Simons’ career.
