President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called upon citizens to fulfill their responsibilities diligently to ensure a peaceful general election on December 7, 2024.

Stressing the significance of maintaining peace and stability throughout the electoral process, he underscored the necessity of preserving the gains achieved in upholding the rule of law under the Fourth Republican Constitution.

“Ghana is our sole homeland, and it’s imperative that we defend our nation and its constitutional principles,” he emphasized.

Speaking at the 2024 National May Day Parade held at the Independence Square in Accra, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of unity despite political and ideological differences among the populace.

This year’s May Day celebration, themed “Election 2024: The Role of Workers and Social Partners in Securing Peaceful Elections for National Development,” highlighted the crucial role of all stakeholders in ensuring peaceful elections.

With Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy on the continent at stake in the upcoming elections, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the significance of this electoral process, particularly amid challenges to democratic values in the region.

He reassured the public of the government’s commitment to facilitating an incident-free election to maintain a peaceful political environment.

“We must always resort to peaceful means to address grievances, ensuring that peace and national security are upheld. We are a unified people with a shared identity,” he concluded.
