Jadon Sancho is urged to be part of Mason Greenwood ‘conversation’ as Man Utd star Andy Cole says £72 million winger may yet resuscitate Old Trafford career.

Date:

According to ex-striker Andy Cole, Jadon Sancho may yet have a future at Manchester United if Sir Jim Ratcliffe joined the club.

Sancho is facing an uncertain future after a difficult campaign. The winger was exiled at Manchester United after falling out with Erik ten Hag and sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund. However, he’s having a rocky time back in the Bundesliga, with German media slamming him for his latest performance in a 3-2 defeat to Hoffenheim. Yet United legend Cole thinks Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent comments on Mason Greenwood, where he opened the door to a potential return, suggest that Sancho could still have a future at Old Trafford.

Cole told BetFred: “Whether he does or doesn’t stay at Manchester United in the long-term, the kid is still a very talented player. You can all sit here and say he’s got to get his head right, but I think everyone needs to get their head and mindset right at times. It’s not worked out for him at the moment at Manchester United, but you just never know what’s going to happen.

“I listened to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments the other day regarding Mason Greenwood and how a decision regarding his future will be made in the summer, so it looks like they’re going to go back to that situation and review it, so I believe that Sancho will be in that discussion as well. Yes, he’s had a tough time, but can they address this problem? If they can’t address this problem, what is the best thing for Jadon Sancho as well as Manchester United? That’s the way they’ve got to look at things.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Manchester United and Ratcliffe have some big decisions to make in the summer on several players but particularly Greenwood and Sancho. Greenwood is said to be reluctant to return to Manchester United and has attracted interest from La Liga clubs Barcelona and Atletico Madrid during his season-long loan with Getafe. Meanwhile, Sancho will have been hoping to impress back at Dortmund after returning to the pitch following his United exile. Yet he has managed just a solitary assist so far and Dortmund have already admitted it will be difficult to sign the winger on a permanent basis.

WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO

Sancho will see out the season with Dortmund but then looks set to return to Manchester United. His future under Erik ten Hag looks bleak as things stand, after failing to apologise to the Dutchman, but his situation at the club could change if the Red Devils opt to change coach in the summer.
