Harry Kane talks about the potential of returning to the Premier League and how Thomas Tuchel persuaded him to join Bayern Munich.

Date:

After 14 years with Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich. He has since disclosed how Thomas Tuchel persuaded him to complete the transfer.

The English striker has had a great start with the Bavarians as he has scored 22 goals in the opening half of the season, equaling Robert Lewandowski’s record for most goals in the first half of the season in Bundesliga history. In conversation with Kicker, the England captain also discussed the possibility of a potential return to the Premier League in the future as he only stands 47 goals away from becoming the top scorer of the Premier League. He currently stands at 260 goals with Alan Shearer holding the record at 307.

Speaking to Kicker about Tuchel’s influence on him [via GOAL Germany], Kane said: “Thomas told me his ideas, where he sees me in the team, what we need and how I can improve the team. He invested a lot – and that impressed me. Thomas has great tactical ideas and knows how he wants to play. He brings good energy and passion when he is in the changing room. I like to listen and learn. Thomas and I talk a lot about football, we talk about the games and what he needs from me. Be it that I let myself go deeper or stay higher because, in the end, we want the same.”

He also talked about rejoining the Premier League: “I am proud of the number of goals in the Premier League, but to break this record has never been my top priority. The closer I came to the brand in recent years, the more often I have talked about it, of course, but we have to wait. Who knows what will happen in the future? I am now here with Bayern, signed a four-year contract – and I concentrate on that.”

Despite Kane’s scintillating form up front for the Bavarians, they currently sit second in the league thanks to the surprise form of Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, who are yet to lose a single domestic game this season. The Bavarians, however, are not too far away from Die Werkself as they only sit four points atop the Bundesliga standings.

WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?

The 30-year-old will be looking to continue his hot vein of form as he looks towards winning his first-ever official trophy despite having had an illustrious career in the Premier League with the Lilywhites. He will next be in action when the Bavarians take on Werder Bremen on January 21.
