Dormaa East MP requests that the Auditor General digitalize asset declarations.

Date:

Paul Twum Barimah, Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, is urging the Auditor General to take efforts to digitalize the asset reporting process in order to aid in the fight against corruption.

His appeal follows charges that large quantities of money were taken from the former Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah, by her home maid.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor is now investigating the former Minister for corruption and corruption-related acts.

Addressing to media in Parliament, the Dormaa East politician stated that the asset disclosure form should be made available online so that the public may easily receive frequent updates.

“I think it is important that the Auditor General comes out clear for us to know how we can do this. And I am calling for them to as soon as possible computerise this declaration. Give me a code, and let me be able to sit behind my machine and open it and update it. If I update it and submit it, I can’t alter it and that is the way…And if they are saying they are going strictly by law, I can confidently tell you that there are a lot of people who will be put behind bars,” he stated.
