When considering Ghana’s notable exports not many think of an evangelist: the focus typically shifts to natural resources, goods and services, and entertainment products. Experienced preachers and religious pioneers who traverse the globe to establish churches and spread the gospel are often an overlooked example of exports from a country.
One such pioneer is Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills, the Presiding Bishop of Lighthouse Chapel International. Through his church planting endeavors and the Healing Jesus Campaign, he has established himself as a significant export for the country.
During his recent Healing Jesus Campaigns in Gabon and Madagascar, Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills attracted massive crowds to stadiums and vast open spaces. There, he delivered messages of healing, restoration, and encouraged individuals to accept Jesus as their Lord and personal savior.
Ahead of his crusade, Dag Heward-Mills met with Ali Bongo Ondimba, the current President of Gabon.
This serves as a testament to the Evangelist’s wide-reaching impact and unwavering commitment to spreading the word of God. Currently, the United Denomination of Lighthouse Churches (UD) operates in many countries with over 4,000 branches—a tremendous international brand and export originating from Ghana. It is remarkable to consider that this success began humbly in the canteen of Korle Bu School of Hygiene in 1988.
Throughout his extensive years in the ministry, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has also authored more than 108 books, with over 42 million copies published. This further exemplifies his dedication and contribution to the field.
