Akufo-Addo believes Judge Torkornoo is qualified to serve as head of Ghana’s judiciary.

In light of Justice Gertrude Torkornoo’s qualifications to head the Judiciary, according to President Akufo-Addo, choosing her to serve as the nation’s new Chief Justice was not a challenging undertaking.

President Akufo-Addo said Justice Torkornoo has the qualifications to restore public trust in the judiciary during his remarks during the swearing-in of the new Chief Justice at the Jubilee House.

Given her degree of education, the amount of years she has served on the bench with distinction, and the higher court of judicature, it was not especially difficult to choose Justice Gertrude Torkornoo as the 15th Chief Justice.

Justice Gertrude Torkornoo takes over from Justice Kwesi Anin Yeboah who retired in May.

She was approved by Parliament on Wednesday, June 7.

Justice Torkornoo is President Akufo-Addo’s third appointment to the Office of Chief Justice since he assumed Office in January 2017.
