Pensioner bondholders protested at the Finance Ministry, demanding the payment of matured coupons.

Date:

Members of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum have returned to the Finance Ministry’s premises to picket in order to demand payment of outstanding coupons on matured bonds.

The government has failed to make coupon payments on matured bonds for pensioner bondholders who were exempt from the Domestic Debt Exchange Program, as well as individual bondholders who did not participate in the scheme.

According to the Forum, the government has been failing to pay their matured coupons and principals for more than two months.

Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, the group’s convenor, told Citi News that the government’s silence compelled the group to return to the Finance Ministry to picket.

“We were fighting for exemptions, we have been exempted, and now we are not being paid. We are fighting for coupons and payments.”
