- Chelsea bringing in former Arsenal striker
- Aubameyang heading back to London
- Barca get another defender in return
WHAT IS GOING ON? Chelsea are getting closer to signing a proven Premier League performer, according to GOAL, with an agreement in place to bring the former Arsenal striker back to London. As part of that deal, a Spanish international defender will return to his homeland.
THE BIG PICTURE: Aubameyang is set to sign a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with a one-year extension option. The player is hoping for a quick decision on his future because he is currently staying in a hotel after being the victim of a home invasion and robbery last week. Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of Chelsea, has a close relationship with Aubameyang from their time together at Borussia Dortmund, and after a shaky start to 2022-23, the head coach hopes the Gabonese international can spark the club.
ADDITIONALLY, Barcelona is hoping that Aubameyang’s departure, as well as the possible departure of Miralem Pjanic, will free up funds and allow them to strengthen before the transfer window closes.
