Drivers who ply the New Dormaa, Yawihiman, and Kootokrom stretch in the Sunyani East Municipality of the Bono Region have demonstrated over the deplorable road.
The drivers were joined by residents of New Dormaa, Yawihiman, and Kootokrom in the demonstration.
This is not the first time a demonstration has been against the deplorable nature of the road. In 2019 a similar demonstration was organized by the youth who live along the stretch.

The contractor working on the road, Samens Construction Limited, has left the site since November 2021.
A demonstrator who spoke to Citi News said the contractors had abandoned the site for about seven months.
“The demonstration has become necessary because for the past seven months the contractor has not been on the road. When they realized we will be holding a demonstration today, the contractor came here yesterday. When you are going to work, you cannot even wear white. We are appealing to the government to come and fix the road,” a resident said.
An assemblyman in the area said, “we are happy that the concerned drivers are embarking on this demonstration. Our problem with this road is the dust, accidents and damages to our cars. This contract was awarded about two years ago, and the contractor has been nowhere to be found for the past seven months. If they don’t fix this road, we shall be here all the time because we have realized that our leaders only fear demonstration.”
